ADHD Assessments

ADHD Assessments for Adults and Children

Understanding and managing ADHD can be a transformative experience for both adults and children. Whether you’re seeking an assessment for yourself or your child, I am here to provide compassionate and professional support every step of the way. My goal is to help you or your loved one live a fulfilling, ADHD-friendly life. Empowered with the tools and strategies necessary for success. I offer the gold standard ADHD assessment, which adheres to the NICE guidelines.

Adult ADHD Assessments

Attention-Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) in adults can significantly impact daily life, making it challenging to focus, stay organised, and maintain relationships or a stable career. Adults with ADHD may find themselves acting impulsively, experiencing rapid mood changes, and struggling to manage their emotions. The adult ADHD Assessment offers a comprehensive evaluation designed to help you understand your unique needs and obtain the support you require to thrive.

What to Expect:

– Expert Evaluation: I am a registered Clinical Psychologist with extensive experience in diagnosing and managing adult ADHD. I use a ‘multi-disciplinary team’ approach in order to offer a gold standard assessment. I adhere strictly to NICE guidelines. This ensures you receive the highest standard of care with complete confidentiality and professionalism.

– In-person or Remote Assessments: I understand the importance of comfort and safety, which is I offer in-person assessments from my office in Wilmslow. Or you can either complete the entire process from your home, if this is better suited for you. I gather all necessary information with precision through remote diagnostics.

– Timely Reporting: I know how important it is to receive your results promptly. Once I complete your assessment, you will receive a detailed report within four weeks. This report will include a clear diagnostic conclusion, practical recommendations and plan to help you navigate life with ADHD, whether at home, work, or in social settings.

– Comprehensive Process: The assessment begins with a series of questionnaires designed to gather background information. This includes medical history, family background, and the specific challenges you’re facing. You’ll also be asked to provide contact details for someone who knows you well, allowing me to gather additional insights (if appropriate). After this, you will attend  two assessment sessions with me and another clinician, where we’ll dive deeper into your experiences. After analysing all the information, we present our findings in a feedback session. At this session we discuss the next steps and answer any questions you might have.

Post-Diagnosis Support:

Receiving an ADHD diagnosis marks the start of the journey. I offer signposting to a range of support services tailored to your needs. From counselling and coaching to workplace strategies, we ensure you have the tools and resources needed to manage your ADHD effectively. Additionally, if needed I can refer you to specialists for further support e.g. medication.

Child ADHD Assessments (from 6 years old)

For children, ADHD can make it difficult to focus, learn, and regulate emotions. Impulsivity, restlessness, and mood swings can affect their daily life at home and in school. A Child ADHD Assessment is designed to understand your child’s unique needs, helping them receive the support they need to thrive both academically and socially. Again, this assessment adheres strictly to the NICE guidelines.

What to Expect:

– Experienced Professionals: Your child will be assessed by me, a registered Clinical Psychologist with a deep understanding of ADHD in children. I am dedicated to providing a supportive, confidential, and professional environment throughout the assessment process.

– In-person appointments or from the comfort of home: Like the adult assessments, I conduct assessments remotely or from my cosy office in Wilmslow. Either venue can offer reliable and thorough assessment,  but as a parent or carer you will know what might suit your child best. Having children of my own, I am skilled in engaging with children, ensuring they feel at ease during the process.

– Quick and Detailed Reporting: After the assessment, you will receive thorough report within four weeks. This report will include our diagnostic conclusions, as well as specific recommendations for supporting your child at home and in school. We will schedule a feedback session within 2 weeks to discuss the findings.

– Step-by-Step Process: The process begins with completing a set of questionnaires that provide us with essential background information about your child, including any medical history and the challenges they are facing. I also gather insights from teachers or other significant adults in your child’s life. The assessment itself involves two sessions, where I will gather further information. Following this, I review all the data, reach a diagnostic conclusion, and discuss our findings with you during a feedback session.

Post-Diagnosis Support:

I believe in a holistic approach to ADHD management. After a diagnosis, we offer signposting for ongoing support to ensure your child has the best possible outcome. This includes access to therapeutic services, educational support, and tailored interventions that can help them succeed in school and beyond. If necessary, we will connect you with an educational psychologist to ensure your child receives the appropriate accommodations and support within their educational setting.
